As per Governor Inslee's Mask Mandate, effective August 23, 2021, face masks must be worn by every person when they are indoors in a public place. We appreciate our customers wearing masks while shopping in our stores.
June 30, 2021
Per the newest Washington State guidelines, we are fully reopened. Including 100% seating capacity in our delis. We are maintaining our vulnerable guest shopping hours on Wednesdays 8 - 9 am and Sundays 9 - 10 am through July 11 . We request that masks be worn during those hours.

As per new CDC & Washington State guidelines, fully vaccinated people are not required to wear a mask to shop at Marlene’s.

All customers must wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times. For those who are unable to wear a mask, we offer Parking Lot Pickup service.
What we are doing:
- Our deli seating is arranged for up to 50% capacity and our tables are appropriately spaced.
- We have plexiglass shields at the registers and deli counters, as well as social distancing floor markers.
- We are conducting frequent disinfection of high-touch, high-traffic areas.
- We disinfect carts, baskets and register areas between each customer.
- Hand sanitizer, gloves and single-use tissues are available throughout the stores.
- Our staff is conducting health checks before beginning their shifts.
- We are asking our customers to help us reserve Sunday 9 – 10 am and Wednesday 8 – 9 am for our seniors and most vulnerable guests.
What you can do to help:

- Customers with highly compromised immune systems may want to utilize our free Parking Lot Pickup service.

- We will have Grab & Go options available in both stores until closing. Our Federal Way deli is offering juice, smoothie and espresso service until 4 pm daily. No custom sandwiches in Federal Way for now. Our Tacoma deli will remain full-service until 6 pm daily.

In accordance with state mandate, beginning Wednesday, November 18, our deli seating areas are temporarily closed.
Remember that we are still offering Parking Lot Pickup service. Place your order via email or phone. We will get it ready and bring it to your vehicle!
Please help us maintain social distancing and remember that masks are required.
We are working hard to make your Marlene's Market & Deli shopping experience as seamless and safe as possible. We hope to resume business as usual in four weeks.

JULY 9, 2020
Effective July 7, 2020 due to the state mandate, all businesses are directed to require and enforce the use of face coverings by all customers and staff upon entering the store.
As a longtime business in our community, it is important for us to follow state and health department guidelines during the COVID pandemic. In this case, it means following the current Washington State mandate for requiring our employees and customers to wear a face covering while in our store, unless someone has a medical condition. Just let us know.
We also offer Parking Lot Pickup.
JUNE 10, 2020
As we continue to move through the phases of reopening, we would like to share a few updates about how our stores are adjusting:
- Our dining rooms are open at 25% capacity in Federal Way and 50% capacity in Tacoma.
- In accordance with guidelines, we will be sanitizing each table between guests. Condiments will be available from attending Marlene’s team members.
- Our Federal Way deli will be open for orders until 4 pm. Grab-and-go items and deli seating will remain available until close.
- Bulk filtered water is now available. Containers must be purchased new, from Marlene’s. A team member will assist in dispensing.
- We are now able to accept returns.
- Current hours in both stores are 8 am - 6 pm, Monday - Saturday. 9 am - 6 pm, Sunday. We are eager to return to our normal hours of operation when we have the staff to do so. Our team has been awesome in maintaining operations as close to normal as possible. Some of our staff has been unable to be in the stores due to health concerns. We have been flexible with scheduling and are being patient as people return to work.

Effective June 1, 2020 we will be able to accept bottle returns for Mountain Mist and milk products.
- Our current store hours are Monday-Saturday 8 am – 6 pm and Sunday 9 am – 6 pm.
- We are asking our customers to help us reserve Sunday 9 – 10 am and Wednesday 8 – 9 am for our seniors and most vulnerable guests.
- We suggest that those with highly compromised immune systems avoid being in the store at this time. We offer Parking Lot Pickup service.
- Our salad bar is currently closed.
- Our Federal Way deli is open until 4 pm. Custom sandwiches and hot soup are unavailable.
- Our Tacoma deli is open the same hours as the store. Custom sandwiches and hot soup are still available.
- We have plexiglass shields at the registers and floor markings to maintain the social distancing while in line.
- We continue to maintain our excellent food safety protocols.
- We are unable to accept returns at this time.
- We are maintaining our rigorous cleanliness standards including disinfecting high-touch, high-traffic areas.
- We are temporarily discontinuing self-service foods. Please ask for assistance with bulk foods.
- We have suspended the use of personal containers.
- Customers may use their own bags. However, staff cannot bag your items and bags must not touch the register counter.
- We have discontinued in-store classes through June.
- Hand sanitizer and gloves are available for use throughout the stores for employee and customer use.
- Our staff is conducting health check-ins before beginning shifts – this includes wellness questions and a temperature check.
- Every employee is charged with the highest standard of personal hygiene including: frequent hand-washing – for at least 20 seconds, with soap and hot water; avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth; and coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your sleeve or arm – not hands.
- We are remaining flexible with our scheduling in order to allow anyone who is not feeling well or who has family who are not feeling well to stay home.
- In accordance with area regulations, our deli seating areas have been closed.
- Our staff is conducting health check-ins before beginning shifts.
- We are practicing social distancing of staff and our guests as much as possible within the stores.
- We have implemented cleaning/sanitizing measures above and beyond our typically high standards.
- We have discontinued all food and beverage demos.
