Bert's Beauty Tips
Well, this upcoming July 20 is going to be a bittersweet day for me. I am retiring. I will miss all of my customers, but a new season of my life is about to unfold! I have had a lot of fun with my coworkers and you, my dear customers and friends. I have learned so much here about what to do – and what not to do – for a beautiful and healthy way of living.
Since I won’t be here to continue to help with your skin care needs, I will leave you with my love, as well as a list of my favorite body care goodies.
Let’s start from the top – hair care: My favorite shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair is from Shikai. It keeps my hair so shiny and manageable throughout the day. Next, I apply a combination of Giovanni Extreme Hair Infusion and Frizz Be Gone as a hair dressing – no tangles and a luscious shine! For a deep moisturizing treatment, I use the Earth Science Hair Masque, which keeps my curls super soft.
Now for my skin care secrets: I wash my face with a bar of soap. Yep – soap! I use Sibu Face and Body Bar as it is so balancing while cleansing, without messing with my skin’s acid mantle. Next, my favorite toner for pH balancing is The Toner by Jeffrey James. No perfume smell or a tacky feeling afterwards. Plus, it’s loaded with so many great ingredients!
One of my favorite steps in my skin care routine is a good serum. I use Lilie de Vallee Hyaluronic Acid Serum and then apply Trilogy CoQ10 Booster Oil. I love the silky-smooth skin I get when using them together. For a daily moisturizer, I always go with MyChelle Deep Repair Cream. It’s perfectly balanced for all skin types and just the right weight for both summer and winter. For nighttime, I choose Sukin Night Cream – so luxurious. Remember to moisturize your décolletage, ladies!
What about moisturizers for your body? The skin on our bodies needs much different treatment than on our faces. I suggest using a dry body brush to remove dead skins cells and improve circulation. This helps stimulate your lymphatic system, as well as prepare your skin for moisture. Jojoba oil is one of the best oils for your body, as your skin recognizes it as its own moisturizing sebum. If you do not prefer oils, I love the Andalou Body Butter for its hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and rich butters. For warmer months, try a lighter weight formula by Alaffia, made with shea butter from women’s collectives in Togo, West Africa.
Here are a few other products I highly recommend for your daily needs:
- For burns, dry and flaky skin, and all the itchy in between, Montana Emu Ranch Emu Oil works miracles.
- When you need to relieve pain, use Elizabeth Essentials Rapid Relief Blend for instant relief. Shikai CBD Cream is also wonderful for arthritis.
- Naturulz Foot Repair Cream is a soothing option for dry, cracked and achy feet. Treat your feet to moisturization and loads of nutrients for a healthy “sole”.
Now, I think I gave you some helpful suggestions to help you get along without me. :)
Thanks for the memories!
Love,
