: What inspired Alpine Provisions?
Joshua Onysko
: Growing up in Rhode Island, I felt like I never fit in. I wasn’t exposed to the outdoors and I felt like I was suffocating. I dropped out of school at 16 years old, bought an old Volkwagen camper and headed to Vermont for a fresh start. While out in the woods, I had an epiphany: the mountains are my native element; they are my home.
Alpine Provisions was born from that feeling. I wanted to offer the world that same feeling of wilderness. I also wanted to give our next generation the opportunities I never had as a kid – to know and love nature by providing them with true wilderness experiences. I decided to donate 5% of all Alpine Provisions profits to the Colorado Outward Bound School.

: Why did you choose the Colorado Outward Bound School?
JO
: I wanted to give our youth the gift of the outdoors. When kids are able to spend time outside and get to know and appreciate the beauty of nature, they gain a newfound respect for the earth. This is carried on into adulthood as they become conscious leaders within their own communities. Our future truly depends on the youth! By supporting Alpine Provisions, you are providing young adults the opportunity to get outside. We partnered with the Colorado Outward Bound School to give these kids a three-week outdoor leadership experience in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Utah, Alaska and Wyoming.

: Why did you choose the body care product route?
JO
: After two decades already in the body care business, it is something that I know very well. I started Pangea Organics to provide high quality, organic skin care for people who care about the earth as much as their skin. With Alpine Provisions, I want to provide even more access to affordable, sustainable and organic castile soaps, deodorants and lip balms. Plus, I have a passion for design and my tattoo artist friend was up for the challenge of creating some beautiful, wilderness-inspired artwork!
M's
: What makes Alpine Provisions stand out from other companies with similar products?
JO
: I think our packaging definitely sets us apart from the competition. Plus, our liquid soap is much thicker than others for a more thoroughly clean feeling without wasting more product. The mountain-inspired scents also elude to the uplifting experience of taking a walk through the woods while taking a shower.
