Cleaning: A Tool for Health, Happiness and Prosperity
If cleaning isn’t high on your values, read on…you might want to reconsider. When you start thinking of cleaning as less of a task and more like a tool, its value changes. Cleaning is like exercise. When I move, I feel better. When I don’t… I don’t. With exercise and cleaning, the better I do, the greater the results.
I’m not advocating a perfectly clean home. I’m a huge believer in creative messes and imperfectly perfect living. Here is what I know for sure: a tangible shift happens after cleaning. It is that glorious feeling of freedom and flowing energy.
Clean for Happiness
The space you spend time in affects your overall wellbeing. If your home or business feels stagnant, uncared for or chaotic, that’s the message you will receive. Cleaning is a form of space clearing. The very act of cleaning refreshes the space. Cleaning is like turning off your computer, letting it reboot and then turning it back on. It resets your space and in doing so, resets you! Post-cleaning, your space will feel revived. You breathe deeper, feel lighter and expansive.
“Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed by outside circumstances – worried
about money, concern over a sick family member, or anxiety over
prolonged business negotiations – instinctively I turn to homegrown
rituals to restore my equilibrium. There is an immediate emotional and
psychological payoff to getting your house in order.”
- Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy
Clean for Happy Relationships
Imagine the doorbell rings: unexpected company! You frantically look around your house. Your home’s cleanliness and order will have a direct impact of how welcome your guests feel. Having a clean and orderly home reduces stress and increases your social connections. Soil, clutter and grime are low-level energies. They deplete your vitality, as well as the vitality of everyone who visits. This is true in homes and businesses. If you want to welcome your customers to your work, create a clean and refreshing space to shine.
Clean for Good Health
Clean spaces support good health. We breathe deeper, sleep sounder, have more energy and fewer illnesses. Effective cleaning keeps viruses and bacteria at bay and improves our indoor air quality. Did you know your dust is more than cute dust bunnies? It is where toxins live: flame retardants, lead, dust, allergens, mold and more. Cleaning helps prevent and remove those little bunnies, creating a healthy space, which supports healthier businesses and families.
Clean for Prosperity
When your spaces feel and look prosperous, it will naturally support prosperity. Clean and uncluttered spaces have better flow – improved feng shui. Good flow contributes to prosperity. Order and organization saves time, energy and resources. Clean and thoughtful spaces give off a sense of pride and success.
Plus, effective maintenance saves you money! Smart cleaning will extend the life of all your surfaces. Fewer restoration repairs and replacements are needed. As you clean, you’ll discover and identify problems such as leaks, spills, and pest problems before they become big expenses.
When you need a lift in your life or business, consider the simple tool of cleaning. Cleaning shifts energy. Cleaning and cleaning out are almost always the foundation to effective feng shui. Movement in our environment gets us unstuck and creates flow in our lives.
